Old Window Wall Art

Hi! I’m here with another Pinterest Project! This is so fun.

So, I saw on Pinterest this wall art made with an old window.

Goodness it’s soooo cute. I totally followed the tut on the original posters blog. 

I needed to make this for my bedroom! So, I did just that! I called my friend Kathy who makes art with old windows and asked if she had one she was not using…she did! Yea! Thanks Kathy!!

The colors in my bedroom are brown and teal…so those are the colors I used. And of course I made this a Hybrid project by just using my digital scrapbooking stash! I just found some digi papers that I liked and printed them in the sizes I needed for my window. All the papers I used were from the GingerScraps store. I love using my digi supplies like this!

So, here is my window. I also used some wooden knobs I already had, not as cute as the original posters knobs, but still cute. I glued buttons on the end of the knobs to make them a little more jazzy. I am one of those girls that likes to use what I have..not that I don’t like to go out and buy more goodies at the craft store…lol..but it gives me pleasure to use supplies I already have in my craft closet.

So, here is my window hanging right on my bedroom wall.

Now, I just need to make some more fun projects to hang all around it! I’m sure I will find lots of great ideas on Pinterest! LOL!

My Planner for 2012

Yes, it’s the beginning of a new year. Time to get organized right! Well, I am a planner girl. I know, a lot of you have foregone the paper planners and only use your smart phone calendars. I do have a smart phone..but I just need my planner! It goes with me everywhere. it’s in my purse. I write everything in it. It’s actually kind of fun to go back through my old planners and see what I had written..almost like a journal of my daily life!

So, of course it’s 2012. My old planner is tattered and full. Time for a fresh start! Yea! Fun! I know I could go and buy myself a planner, but it is much more fun to make your own! It’s so way cuter!

So here we go…time to share my 2012 planner!

Here is the planner in process.

Yes, that is my sewing machine. I wanted pocket pages, so I decided to sew them! That should be sturdy don’t cha think!

Here are the inside pages.  I created templates for these planner pages you can find them in my shop at GingerScraps. The templates are totally customizable.

Just use any digi papers that you like, drag them into the layers in the template and print the pages back to back. You just have to do a few test prints to see how the pages come out of your printer. Once you get it all tested they printing a a breeze.

So, I was super excited to use my new Zutter Bind it All for my planner this year! I got it on sale too! With my Ben Franklin gift card Whoowhhoo! I am totally loving this new tool! It punches all the little holes for you and binds it all together with the wires.  A few test punches with this and I was good to go. You could also use a small 3 ring binder, like I did last year.

I love pink and black! So, the zebra paper and the little rhinestone camera I also got at Ben Franklin. The rest of the papers and elements are digital and are in the kit Colors of My Life which you can find at GingerScraps. It is a buffet kit, so it is huge and a collaboration of a bunch of the GingerScraps designers. I’m using the same kit for my 365 project this year.

The cover is a piece of chipboard with the zebra paper on both sides. Then the cute little hybrid bit glued on the front. It is all Mod Podged to keep it sealed and protected. This little book has to be able to take my abuse for the whole year! And it turned out so cute, I won’t get bored of looking at it!

Now, I am totally ready to take on another busy, fun filled year of lots and lots of thing to do!

Recycled Book “Family” Banner!

Happy Thursday!! Today I actually have a cute little project to show you! I made this a while ago too and it is super easy but super cute, And multi-purpose too! And it didn’t cost me a cent, because I already had everything I needed laying around the house!

I love how it looks on my family photo wall!

But, not only that…it is so super cute when you take it off the wall and use it as a prop in your family portraits!

I’m totally going to make some more with different sayings! They are so easy..

So, first step, find an old book, cut  triangles out of the pages, you can do more than one page at once too!

Print out some letters in a cute font from you computer. I used PSE to resize my letters to the right size, but you can also use word or any other program you have.

Print…Cut…Glue to the triangles. Told you…Easy!

Now, take some string or ribbon, what ever you have. I like to tape the pieces to the string to really hold them on there.

Then add some mini clothespins! Done! Yea!! So cute!

We Made a Wind chime!

Good afternoon my crafty friends! I am so off schedule..I guess summer has it’s own special schedule right?! Any whooo…If you remember my summer fun list, which, by the way we have been checking those boxes off day by day!  number 52 on the summer fun list was to make a wind chime. 

Of course I had to browse Pinterest to get some fun ideas. I saw this wind chime using a plate as the top part. I thought, Perfect! I have these white lattice plates I bought over 12 years ago that are just calling out to be crafted. So the boys and I took a little trip to the Goodwill to pick up some spoons to make our chimes. I also found some cool clear beads in the craft section that were perfect for this project. Everything else I already had. Yea for cheap projects!

The boys and I got to work, we got out our trusty drill, I already had my little tiny drill bit in it from the last time I made scrabble tile necklaces. We drilled some holes through the spoons. It takes a while for the drill bit to go through the spoon, but eventually it goes through. Tyler helped me do the drilling. Travis just watched us..he didn’t really want to get any where near the drill…lol.

So, then we laid out our beads and spoons. I needed fishing line to string the beads and spoons on, so I snagged my hubby’s fishing pole. Shhhhh.

Now just tie your fishing line onto the spoon. I ties a few knots and make sure you paint the knot with some clear polish to hold it nice and strong.

Now, I kind of forgot to take pics while I was stringing the beads…lol..but you get the idea. Just string them on go all the way around and back through the bead and tie back near the hole in the spoon. Put nail polish on this knot too.

I also strung some polka dot ribbon thru my plate and up to the top to hang it. I didn’t really trust the fishing line to hold it, I thought the ribbon would be stronger, cuter too.

So here we are all done with our wind chime.

So, for just the price of a few thrift store spoons we now have a pretty wind chime to enjoy. I got some super cute colorful wooden beads at the thrift store too. I’m totally gonna make another wind chime!

Mmmmm Yummy Cheesy Bread!

Happy Monday! Today will be fun, and hopefully this will be an every Monday event! It’s a recipe blog train. These fabulous ladies will have some yummy goodness for you. So, when you just don’t know what to make for dinner…again…check these out!

Now, me I have been sooo busy this summer, my family is lucky to get dinner…just kidding! But we are doing a lot of throw this on the grill and eat it!

But, I do have this really yummy cheesy bread to share with you. I first had this while on vacation with my bff and her family way back in the day. I think I was like 14 or 15. Now, you know this must be good because it stuck in my head all those years! I knew my bff had the recipe so I just had to get it from her and start making it again..mmm..sooo good.

So, this is one of those no measure type things..lol..but here is what you need.

Mayo

Red Onion..I like to use my Pampered Chef Chopper! Love this tool! ( I sell Pampered Chef)

Cheese..Grated

A loaf of French Bread unsliced

So, just mix these things all together to make a spread..I know not really helpful with out measurements, but it’s ok, it will taste good.

Spread it on the bread..

Then stick it in the oven at like 350 and bake it till it’s nice and brown and melty and good. You can stick it under the broiler too to make it all brown and toasty!

Let it cool just a bit then slice and serve. Mmmm, so good with chicken or steak..or salad..Mmmm, good with anything!

July 4th Decorations You Can Make Yourself!

Happy Wednesday! I was the guest blogger on Saturday for Not Just a Housewife! I shared my July 4th Ribbon Lights, but wanted to share them here to just in case you missed them!
I am getting my house all ready for Independence Day! Our community has a big blow out every year, with golf cart parades, craft booths, fireworks! The whole she-bang! Of course all my friends and family come over and we all have a big potluck! Super fun. So, of course I gotta make some fun and inexpensive decorations for my house!
So, today I am showing you how to totally jazz up a set of plain white Christmas lights! All you need is a strand of white lights, which you probably already have packed away with your Christmas stuff, and some ribbon. I used red, white and blue ribbons which I got at the Dollar Store! 4 Yards of each color was what I used. But, of course if you want even more ribbon on your lights get more than 4 yards of each color.
So, first step is to cut your ribbons. I just cut them all at once. I cut them at about 9 to 10 inches each. I just eyeballed it. I cut the first one and then just held it up and cut the rest the same length.

Next step is to lay out your strand of lights.

Now you are just going to be tying your ribbons onto the lights. When I started I was tying 3 ribbons in between each light bulb. But I was running out or ribbons too fast and I really didn’t want to drive to town to get more ribbon! LOL! So, I switched it up and just tied on ribbon in between each bulb. I tied them on in order a red, then a white then a blue.

Just keep on tying until you run out of ribbon! This would be totally cute with strips of fabric too.
Now, just hang it up and plug it in! I looks totally cute! Way better than just plain white lights.

Of course I added some more fun stuff to my window. I actually keep a “clothesline” in this window all year round and change the theme for the different seasons. I just clip the different things up there on the line with cute little wooden mini clothespins.
I made this I Love USA Banner with some digital templates that I designed and some digital scrapbooking paper these are all available at GingerScraps. The best digital Scrapbooking site on the web! I love making hybrid projects. Which is where you use a mix of digital and tradition craft and scrapbooking supplies to create fun goodies. If you are a digi scrapper you need to try a hybrid project!

I added some Pinwheels too! It looks super cute. You can get a pinwheel template free in my shop at GingerScraps. Perfect if you want to use digital scrapbooking paper to make your pinwheels. I used traditional paper this time. But I have made them with digi paper lot’s of times. Both ways are super easy and fun!
