This is a big week here in our household. I have Tyler, he is 6 “Graduating” From kindergarten…which is oh so cute.
Then there is Friday. My only daughter Kayla will be graduating from high school. I am so very proud of her. She is of course so ready to get out of high school. She is already signed up for Jr. College, has her classes picked out. She is ready to move on to the next step in her life. Ready to be an “adult”.
But wasn't I just pregnant with her? Didn't we just bring her home from the hospital to our tiny 2 bedroom house in North Carolina.

Wasn't it just last week she came in my Mom’s kitchen with my sisters scrunchies all up and down her arms. No, last week she was sitting on her daddy shoulder’s wearing his hat?

Wasn't it just last week she was the one walking across the stage at her elementary school in her paper cap getting her kindergarten diploma?

How does this happen! Gosh, I feel like I just graduated high school last week! am I really that old! I’m so happy for her, But I’m also scared…she has plans to join the air force in a year, she is majoring in psychology. she wants to travel. She wants to see other places, go somewhere besides our small town. I want her to do all these things..I will just miss her so much.
She is my little girl, my only girl in this house full of rambunctious boys. Her’s is the only room in the house with pretty curtains and pillows on the bed. Makeup spread all over the floor. she is the one who gives me facials..she is the one who helps me clean up after all these boys. she is my beautiful, and capable daughter. She has the kindest heart and the sweetest smile. She has the whole world right out in front of her.
Now I know how my Mom felt when I left CA and went to North Carolina with my Army husband when I was 19.

What a wonderful concept...
Congrats to your daughter and to your whole family! I can't believe I graduated 15 years ago...it's a wonderful if terrifying time, and the best advice I can give is to be good to your Mom!
Dude. Alton's going to go off to college any day now isn't he?
Kayla is gorgeous! Julie you've raised a beautiful young woman. :)
Sweet KK, oh you made me cry.. and I'm not talking about tearing up... I'm talkin tears running down my cheeks. You have done an AMAZING job with Kayla, I hope I do as good of a job with my own little Isabelle.
I do have the two best teachers ever though, mom and You!
Love you sweet sister!!
Friday is going to be hard for us stoic chicks!!! But we will get through it :)
<3 <3 <3
just found your blog from another who linked up and I just had to say WOW! Your daughter is stunning, I'd wish she could stay home too if I were you :) My kids are finishing 9th and 10th and I'm feeling that each year goes by exponentially faster. Best wishes and thanks for offering the linkup!
I totally teared up reading this! So beautiful. Not just the pictures, but the writing! ♥
Your daughter is beautiful and so very blessed to have such a loving mama!
I am so not looking forward to the days when my babies are all grown up. {sniff}
How can this be! My little niece...Kayla...all growd up and looking SO fine! And Julie...did you take that picture that you sent us of her?! Wow!!! If so...you do GREAT work! But then...look what you had to work with?! You couldn't go wrong! I hear your heart as a Mama....and I can only imagine how protective Steve feels about his little girl! Yes! It is VERY hard to say your first "goodbye" to your little girl! Especially when she is your only girl. I know. I am feeling your pain, Jules! I really am! You are happy for them...and yet so profoundly sad at the same time! I love you sweetie! Hey. Can I join your KIR blog? Or was it meant more for girls your age....cuz I AM significantly older than your age group. I just love your idea of keeping it real. There is little of that going around these days! Great idea!
Of course you can join my Lady Di :) It's for everyone. Any age :)
We all need a little reality in our lives.
What a beautiful post (as I wipe away the tears)!
